Fuel prices, supply remain stable

Fuel prices prevailing in the country are not due to be reviewed in the near future, contrary to misinformation being peddled on social media platforms.

In response to questions from the public in light of isolated fuel queues witnessed at some service stations over the weekend, the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) Mr. Eddington Mazambani clarified, “The fuel supply in the country is stable and the public should not panic based on false statements that the fuel prices are due to be significantly reviewed. Government has put in place enough financial facilities to ensure that there will be enough fuel stocks to cater for the current demands.”

Mr. Mazambani commended the fuel procurers who have maintained their supply lines which ensured that all the sites are fully stocked across the country.

He said the shortage of petrol that was witnessed during the end of the last week was due to a supply gap and advised that this gap is being closed by the current fuel supply inflows.

“There is no need for panic buying. The country has adequate stocks. ZERA is constantly monitoring the supply and consumption pattern while the financial side is being resolved by the Central Bank”, said Mr. Mazambani.
